Most people infected with Yellow fever do not experience any symptoms but when they do occur, there is a risk of advancing to a toxic phase in which people develop jaundice, dark urine, and abdominal pain and have a 50% chance of dying. Yellow fever is difficult to diagnose and typically requires PCR detection during the early stages. In later stages, ELISA detecting IgM or IgG antibodies to the virus is required.
