Campylobacter jejuni (C. jejuni) is a bacterium frequently linked to foodborne illnesses, particularly gastroenteritis, and is a leading cause of bacterial diarrhea globally. Infections typically occur after consuming undercooked poultry or contaminated water. Campylobacter jejuni treatment often involves supportive care, though in severe cases, antibiotics for Campylobacter jejuni, such as azithromycin or ciprofloxacin, may be required. Early diagnosis can be facilitated by using a Campylobacter antigen assay to detect the presence of C. jejuni bacteria in stool samples, enabling timely intervention.
