Description

  • Reagent alcohol (28%) in a stabilizing solution containing zinc sulfate and polyvinyl alcohol provides an acceptable preservative-fixative for protozoan trophozoites and cysts
  • The resulting permanent slide lends itself to commonly used staining procedures such as Wheatley’s trichrome or iron hematoxylin
  • 10% formalin preserved specimens may be examined directly or concentrated for recovery of eggs, larvae, and protozoan cysts
